Principal's Message:  HANDLING OF INFORMATION/RUMORS

Congratulations to the November Students of the Month. 
They are:

  Cadence D and Antionette L

Temporary IDs are due at the end of the day.  You will have lunch detention if you do not return them the day you check out the ID.

Bus notes must be turned in the high school office before 3rd hour.

Students that drive, there is now a line painted across the parking lot.  The East side of the orange line is for faculty and staff ONLY!  The west side and along the purple fence is for students.  Lunch detentions will be given for no pass and parking in the wrong area. 

Students if you leave campus without permission or return to campus without signing in, you will be suspended! You must be in FULL dress code if you return as a visitor.   You cannot leave campus for lunch.  There are to be NO lunch deliveries made by students.   All outside food must be brought to the high school office. 

Students that drive: DO NOT PARK in front of the gates by the pond.  They are marked NO PARKING!   You will be given lunch detention!

Students blankets are NOT allowed under any circumstance!  Sweatpants, wind pants, or any form of pants being worn over the uniform shorts are not allowed once the morning bell rings. 

Please come by the HS office to check lost and found.  Several items have been turned in.  

Sr. Beta is hosting the Thanksgiving food drive.  This year we be giving to our own SB families and joined up with Fearless Missions to help out in the community.  We will be having a competition between classes. The winning class in Jr High and HS class will have an additional 10 minutes added to their lunch time.  The individual classes are asked to bring the following:

7th Grade Canned Yams

8th Grade Chicken Broth

9th Grade 1lb bag of rice

10th Grade Bag of dried beans

11th Grade Macaroni and Cheese

12th Grade Cornbread Mix  

There will be a junior high dance next Friday, November 17.  It will be in the cafeteria from 7:00-10:00.  The cost is $5 per person.

Book Fair will continue through the week in the library. We have the new, Diary of a wimpy kid,” The Getaway”, for $8.00. 

SBHS will be hosting an OSHA training on November 16th and November 17th during the school day.  There are 15 remaining spots available.  Sign up in the office.  This will be on a first come first serve basis.

 

 

Club News

SR. Beta is conducting their annual food drive.  

There will be an important meeting for all Jr. Beta and Junior High Student Council members tomorrow during RTI in Mrs. Reeves room. Permission slips for the Christmas field trip will be handed out. If you miss the meeting it is your responsibility to see Mrs. Reeves to pick up a permission slip.

Today is the last day to turn in donations for the Interact Operation Christmas Child.  Donations may be brought to the high school office and Mr. Semple’s room.

Reminder Jr. Beta and Jr. High Student Council members’ deadline for field trip permission slips is Friday, Nov. 17.  Permission slips must be turned in to Mrs. Reeves.

Jr. Beta member’s deadline for your final Jr. Beta payment is Thursday, Nov. 16.  Dues must be paid in full to attend the field trip.

There will be an all member Interact meeting this Thursday, November 16th, during lunch.

Reminder Jr High softball try-outs will be Nov. 15-17.  You must have an athletic packet to try out.  Packets can be picked up in the Junior High office.

McNeese State University Scholarship Priority Deadline is November 15, 2017.  To be eligible and to apply you must apply to the university.

LSUA Scholarship priority deadline is December 1, 2017.  To be eligible and to apply you must apply to the university.

The AXA Achievement Scholarship is now available.  To be eligible you must be attending a 2 year or 4 year college or university and have evidence of outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities.  Apply online at https://www.scholarsapply.org/axa-achievement/ Deadline:  December 15, 2017.

The ACT Student Champion Award is now available.  Apply online at www.act.og/readinesschampions. To be eligible you must have overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions, and have a composite ACT of 22, and a 3.0GPA.  Deadline:  December 31, 2017.

Louisiana Tech University Scholarship Deadline:  January 1, 2018.  To be eligible and to apply you must apply to the university.

Louisiana AFL-CIO Scholarship:  All applicants must be high school seniors residing in the State of Louisiana whose parent/step parent is a member of an affiliated local union in good standing with the Louisiana AFL-CIO.  An essay is required for consideration in this competition.  The topic of the essay is How Do Unions Help Workers in Today’s Economy?”  Deadline:  January 5, 2018.  See Mrs. Greene for more information.

The Catholic Youth Leadership Award is now available.  You must be of the Catholic faith to be eligible.  Apply online at www.louisianakc.org and click on the CYLA link to fill out the application.  Deadline:  January 25, 2018.

University of Louisiana Lafayette Scholarship Priority Deadline is January 31, 2018.  To be eligible and to apply you must apply to the university.

LSUE Scholarship Priority Deadline is February 1, 2018.  To be eligible and to apply you must apply to the university.

The Linda and Wayne Zaunbrecher Scholarship:  for seniors who will be entering college in the fall of 2018 with a major in agriculture, vocational agriculture, agribusiness, home economics or other curriculum directly benefitting the agriculture sector.  Applicant must be a member of Farm Bureau. Deadline:  February 15, 2018.  See Mrs. Greene for application.

Sowela Scholarship Priority Deadline is April 1, 2018.  To be eligible and to apply you must apply to the university.
