Principal's Message:  HANDLING OF INFORMATION/RUMORS

NO sports balls are to be brought from home, including tennis balls.

Students you are NOT allowed to stay in your vehicles once you arrive on campus.You will have consequences.

Temporary IDs are due at the end of the dayYou will have lunch detention if you do not return them the day you check out the ID.

Bus notes must be turned in the high school office before 3rd hour.

Students that drive, there is now a line painted across the parking lot.  The East side of the orange line is for faculty and staff ONLY!  The west side and along the purple fence is for students.  Lunch detentions will be given for no pass and parking in the wrong area. 

Students if you leave campus without permission or return to campus without signing in, you will be suspended! You must be in FULL dress code if you return as a visitor.   You cannot leave campus for lunch.  There are to be NO lunch deliveries made by students.   All outside food must be brought to the high school office. 

Students blankets are NOT allowed under any circumstance!  Sweatpants, wind pants, or any form of pants being worn over the uniform shorts are not allowed once the morning bell rings.  

Students DO NOT park in front of the NO PARKING SIGNS!

Reminder, do NOT tape or glue advertisements, banners, or posters to the walls.   They can be placed on doors, or your bulletin boards. 

Students all solid colored yeti, yeti like cups, and bottles are prohibited.  You may only bring a clear water bottle.

We will continue selling parking passes at lunch and after school only.  You will need a copy of your DL, insurance card, registration and $10.  

The PBIS concession stand will not open until 10 minutes into lunch.  Jr High 10:56, & HS will be 11:40

Female students you may not have your shorts rolled.  If you are caught, you will have lunch detention.  This is a dress code violation.

Any senior interested in going into the construction field, there will be a construction career day on October 23rd.  Registration forms can be picked up in the HS office.

Students we will have our first Gold Card Redemption of the new school year on Tuesday, Oct. 23, before school in the cafeteria.  Start collecting your Gold Cards now because we are going to have some great rewards. You will have the opportunity to enter drawings for a $25 gift card to the concession stand, a $50 gift card, a $100 gift card, and a Nintendo Switch game system.

Student you can NOT use your cell phone, on campus before school.  If you have an emergency and need to call someone you must get permission from the office. 

Jr High girls basketball team will be hosting a dance for 7th and 8th grade on Saturday Oct. 27 from 6:00 to 9:00 in the high school cafeteria.  The theme is BOOgie Knights. They will be allowed to wear costumes and there will be a costume contest. Tickets will be 5.00 and can be bought at the door. There will also be a concession.

 


 

CLUB NEWs

FCCLA encourages you to believe in yourself as you explore exciting new career pathways and leadership opportunities.  If you would like a chance to represent SBHS and demonstrate leadership skills while earning a trip to Disneyland this summer.  Membership is $30 and due by Oct. 19th.

Congratulations to the junior high and high school Rodeo Team for an outstanding performance at the Tri Parish Rodeo held this past weekend in Crowley.  Marley N placed 3rd in the pole bending in the junior high division. Judd Morrison placed second in boys goat tying and 2nd in team roping at the junior high rodeo. For the high school team Jayce R and Brady J won the team roping. Jayce also placed 8th in tie down roping. Katherine M was fourth in goat tying and Addie K was seventh in pole bending.

HomeworkLouisiana (HomeworkLa.org), a service of the State Library of Louisiana, offers FREE online tutoring and academic resources from tutor.com for Louisiana residents from kindergarten students through adult learners. Get help in math, science, social studies or English from a live tutor. The services can be accessed from a Louisiana public library, from your home computer or from your mobile device.

WENDY'S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN SCHOLARSHIP

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is now available. To be eligible you must graduate during the 2018-2019 academic school year, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and plan to pursue a degree at an accredited college after graduation. To apply you must complete the online application at https://www.coca-colascholarsfoundation.org/apply/. The deadline to apply is October, 31, 2018

The National Rice Scholarship is now available.  To be eligible you must be a High school graduating students from rice-growing states — Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas. You can enter by doing the following: 1. Create an original video about U.S. rice, National Rice Month, and the importance of rice to your state (must be 3 minutes or less) 2. Upload your video to Youtube or Vimeo. 3. Submit your entry at www.thinkrice.com/scholarship/2018-contest-entry/. The deadline to apply/Submit is October 31, 2018. The Hagan Scholarship is now available. To be eligible you must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5, have a minimum ACT score of 23 or SAT score of 1200, plan to enroll in a four year university in the Fall of 2019, Must work 240 hours in the twelve months prior to the start of college; from August 2018 to August 2019, Must complete the FAFSA in 2018 using 2017 tax return information. Apply online at https://haganscholarships.org/application/. The deadline to apply is Nov. 15, 2018.


COLLEGE NEWS

 

SENIORS:  FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Assistance) is now open.  This is the only application for TOPS, grants, loans, parent loans and work study for financial assistance for college and technical school for the 2017-18 academic year.  Get your FAFSA filled out as soon as possible.  www.fafsa.gov
