Student of the Year Application


The book fair has been rescheduled for the week after Thanksgiving break.  HS students may visit the book fair in the library during their morning break.  JH students may visit during their afternoon break.  Please do not send students to the library out of your class.

All student participating in the HS Student of the Year program must turn in their typed application by November 15th to Mrs. Hungerford.  The application has been link to the SBHS website.

FAFSA submission pages must be turned into Mrs. Hungerford asap!!

Congratulations to our teachers of the year!  Junior High is Mr. Duncan Crain and High school is Mrs. Sharon Chaumont.  Congratulations!!!

The Junior  high office will be selling retired purple or white football jerseys for $10.   

Students scoring a 21 or higher during the testing months of December – March can have their ACT testing fee reimbursed.  See Mrs. Martin for any questions or reimbursement

Students during break and high school lunch you are not allowed to stand up on the porch by the vending machines outside the cafeteria or in the walkway between the cafeteria and doors entering the high school building. 

Student you are not to stand in the covered walkways by the jr high gym and cafeteria.   You can stand in the courtyard only. 

Please check the HS Office for lost and found items. 

It’s that time of year again, time for a little competition between classes.  We will be having a class collection for the community food drive.   Collection boxes are in the HS office.  The items for each grade level are as follows;

7th grade  Canned yams

8th grade  Cranberry sauce

9th grade  Boxed macaroni & cheese

10th grade  Boxed cake mixed

11th grade Spaghetti noodles

12th grade Spaghetti sauce

Interact will be accepting Operation Christmas child toys and entertainment items that are able to fit in a shoe box.  Examples of items are: coloring books, crayons, cards, socks, headbands, small sports balls.  Interact members are asking students to donate items to help other children have an amazing Christmas.

Congratulations to Judd Morrison and Channing J on their  recent wins at the North Central and Cenla Rodeos held in Ruston and Alexandria. At the North Central rodeo Judd was second in boys goat tying and third in chute dogging. Channing  placed 3rd in tie down roping . In Alexandria Judd placed first in boys goat tying and seventh in chute dogging; Channing placed third in team roping. 

In the high school division in Ruston Katherine M placed fourth in goat tying and ninth in breakaway roping. Jayce Reeves was sixth in tie down roping. At the Cenla High School Rodeo Katherine was second in goat tying, Jayce was eighth in tie down roping, and Mason R placed eighth in team roping.   Good job team!

Congratulations to Braydon H for submitting the winning  design for this year’s  Jr. Beta Club tee shirt.

Tryouts for girls interested in playing junior high softball will be after school on 11/26-11/30. Physical packets from the junior high office must be completed and turned in by try-outs. If you have any questions, see Coach Bushnell.

LASAFAP (LOUISIANA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS OF FEDERALLY ASSISTED PROGRAM)



The Hagan Scholarship is now available. To be eligible you must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5, have a minimum ACT score of 23 or SAT score of 1200, plan to enroll in a four year university in the Fall of 2019, Must work 240 hours in the twelve months prior to the start of college; from August 2018 to August 2019, Must complete the FAFSA in 2018 using 2017 tax return information. Apply online at https://haganscholarships.org/application/. The deadline to apply is Nov. 15, 2018.

Vera Thomasee_Pat Landry Memorial Scholarship  
The attached Scholarship is for a student going into Criminal Justice or Business Administration Program at an accredited university, junior college or vocational/technical school.  Applications are due by April 1, 2019.
